Boekenhoutskloof was established in furthest corner of the beautiful Franschhoek valley in 1776. The farm’s name means “ravine of the Boekenhout” (pronounced Book-n-Howed) and the Boekenhout is an indigenous Cape Beech tree greatly prized for furniture making. Hence the chairs on the label. In 1993 the farm and homestead were bought and restored and a new vineyard planting programme was established that now includes Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Semillon and Viognier.

Mark Kent is the winemaker and driving force behind the estate creating a range of well-crafted wines under different labels such as Boekenhoutskloof, The Wolftrap, Porcupine Ridge, The Chocolate Block and now Boekenhoutskloof is rated as South Africa's #1 producer by Robert Parker picking up the 2012 Winery of the Year in the prestigious Platters South Africa Wine Guide. One of the countries finest and most innovative producers.

Tasting Notes:
The nose is dark and brooding and entices with its black fruit aromas and hints of pepper and spice. The blueberry and blackberry of the nose follow through onto a layered, full palate with flavours of dark plums and notes of dust, graphite and cocoa nib. The wine is focused and elegant, with fresh yet integrated acidity and fine-grained tannins, adding to exceptional structure. Black currant and milk chocolate linger on a silky finish.

This is a Dry, Full bodied wine with High acidity and Medium+ tannin. It is Pronounced in it's intensity with High alcohol and a Medium+ finish.
