This is a wonderful story romantically rooted in the foundations of Waikari Estate in South Island of New Zealand, North Canterbury and the devotion to great wine of Pyramid Valley founders, Mike and Claudia Weersing. Their first plantings were arranged according to specific changes in soil composition between the unique interactions of the limestone and clay soils. it was these changes that was reflected in their decision to plant either Chardonnay or Pinot Noir. Interestingly the meadow growing in each parcel was also different, with different species of meadow plants being present. These parcels have been named according to the dominant botanicals in the meadow from their beginning in 2000, and have been vinified as individual wines since 2006. Each wine is named after the colloquial name of the meadow plant and each wears a wonderful piece of Patricia Curtin botanical art to reflecting this.

This is a beautiful wine with wonderful fruit definition, a silky and seductive texture and round, plush tannins giving the wine weight and power. Aromatically floral on the nose with bright raspberry and dark cherry, complimented by an abundance of savoury and earthy notes on the finish. This wine has wonderful tension and length with the typicity of bright fruit and herbal character that North Canterbury is renowned for.

This is a Dry, Medium+ bodied wine with High acidity and Medium tannin. It is Medium+ in it's intensity with High alcohol and a Long finish.
