San Filippo is a small artisanal estate that was founded in Montalcino in 1972 and currently owned by Roberto Ginnelli. The main farmhouse of the estate also comprises a small historical chapel that dates back to 1672 and the aging cellar is still located within the basement of the old farmhouse.
The estate itself produces high quality wines from four estate vineyards totalling only around 11ha of vines, primarily dedicated to Sangiovese but with some Merlot and Syrah. Their four vineyards include the northeast-facing sites Le Lucére (the estate's top Brunello) and La Storta, the north-facing La Raffiche vineyard, and the southwest-exposed La Smarrita vineyard. Soils are generally composed of clay intermingled with marl and limestone.

Tasting Note:
The colour is as expected: bright ruby red with a touch of garnet. The intense perfume is complex, with notes of spicy vanillin cedar, dried herb, liquorice and earthy tobacco, with dark fruit characters of crunchy black plum and red cherry. The progression onto the palate is fantastic with a full flavour becoming harmonious and persistent, with dense and polished silky tannins and a long refined finish. This is a robust wine with texture and muscule indicative of Brunello, there's a lot going on here.

This is a Dry, Full bodied wine with High acidity and High tannin. It is Pronounced in it's intensity with High alcohol and a Medium+ finish.
