Château Malescot-St-Exupéry, is a 3ème Cru Classé Margaux property, (right next door to Ch. Margaux) which can trace its history back to the 18th century. Unfortunately, over the years the reputation slipped, and the estate became dilapidated and run-down, but thankfully in 1955 the property was purchased by the Zuger family who invested heavily in the estate. Now it is one of the best-maintained and most quality-driven of the Margaux crus.
Today it is run by Jean-Luc Zuger. The winery and the cellars are located in the town of Margaux, while the vineyards now consist of five separate parcels in the commune of Margaux.

This wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot - all matured in oak barriques, 80% of which are new, for 16 months and is bottled unfiltered. All the grapes are carefully hand harvested and hand sorted with some of the bunches being partially destemmed. Before fermentation, the grapes are left to cold soak at 10 degrees for 4 to 6 days to aid in aromatics, colour, and phenolic extraction. Full fermentation with natural yeasts lasts for up to 15 days during which pigeage is utilised to aid in extraction.

This is a Dry, Full bodied wine with High acidity and Medium+ tannin. It is Medium+ in it's intensity with Medium alcohol and a Long finish.
