Castello della Paneretta is located in the Chianti Classico area just south of Florence on the western slopes of Monsanto that overlook the Val d'Elsa. Monsanto is considered to be in amongst some of the most desirable land within the Chianti Classico appellation. Their Castle was built in 1260 but in a wine sense there are records dating back to 1596 attesting that wine was actually in production here.

Today, Castello della Paneretta is one of the largest farms in the region producing 900 hectolitres of Chianti Classico and IGT wines annually from its 22 has of vineyards. Fabio Albisetti is Castello di Paneretta’s current custodian who originally purchased the run down and dilapidated castle in 1984 and decided to fulfil his dream and start producing quality Italian wine. Producing wine using exclusively the native varieties of Sangiovese and Canaiolo, Fabio believes these local varietals unquestionably represent local tradition and expression of their terroir and you can get really get a sense of this traditional and of his love, in these wines.

The Paneretta Chianti Classico Riserva made using 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo. The grapes are hand picked, fermentation on the skins at a controlled temperature of 25-27°C in stainless steel for 10-12 days. It is then aged for 24 months in French oak barrels.

'One of the best Chianti's I've had in a very long time' - Andy

Tasting Note:
This is a full bodied Sangiovese with loads of the classical savoury earth, sour red cherry, dried herbs, dried flowers, marzipan, dark cherries and spicy peppery characters. Having spent time in oak, these classic polished and well framed tannins combined with the taut acidity will give the wine the ability to keep for many years to come.

This is a Dry, Medium+ bodied wine with High acidity and High tannin. It is Pronounced in it's intensity with Medium alcohol and a Medium+ finish.
