Founded 1974 Querciabella Giuseppe (Pepito) Castiglioni is one of the largest organic and biodynamic estates in Italy. Taking inspiration from the wines of Burgundy but using a 'Tuscan twist' the wines have cemented themselves as being amongst the best wines in Chianti. Today the estate totals more than 100 hectares of the vineyards and still manage to retain retain their commitment to creating extraordinary wines, without causing harm or disrupting the delicate balance of nature. 

The first vintage of Mongrana was produced in 2005 with fruit sourced from a range of vineyards located in the Tuscan coastal region of Maremma. All of the vineyards have been biodynamically grown since inception.

Tasting Note:
Typically Italian, warm and inviting, with an intense ruby red colour in the glass. Mongrana is so accessible so it doesn't take long to reveal itself at all. Notable and well defined aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as Morello cherry, blackberry, cassis, mulberry, bramble and blueberry with elements of dried herbs (oregano, bay leaf) savoury spices, leather, coffee powder and cocoa with a dash of aniseed and liquorice. 
This wine is Juicy and fresh, with soft tannins and a persistent finish. Drink and enjoy, don't save this one.
