In 1964 Jim Barry and his wife Nancy purchased 70 acres of prime farm land from their friend and neighbour, Duncan McRae Wood where they planted their first Shiraz vineyard. Today, the custodian of Jim Barry Wines is their second son Peter, who joined the family winery in 1977 and now works along side his own sons, Tom and Sam.

The McRae Wood Shiraz is made from declassified Armagh fruit and other top parcels of grapes from the family’s other Clare Valley vineyards.

Tasting Note:
Dark and broody aromas of plum and blackberry with sweet earth, spice, and hawthorn on the nose. An effortless approach and line, with sinewy tannins greeting on entry, flowing all the way to the back palate. Up front, this on entry, flowing all the way to the back palate. Up front, this wine has all the hallmarks of the McRae Wood profile, then a wave of elegance, florals and spice, and a classic brooding finish.

This is a Dry, Full bodied wine with High acidity and Medium+ tannin. It is Medium+ in it's intensity with High alcohol and a Medium+ finish.
