Paolo Caciorgna is a renowned oenologist having worked in some of the greatest names in Tuscan viticulture. Along with consulting to many Italian wine producers he has his own label, Pietro Caciorgna named in dedication to his Father Pietro and producing some of the most exciting wines of this region.
Paolo acquired plots of ancient ungrafted vines in the Contrada Marchesa. The high altitude of the vineyards and volcanic soil meant they could withstand Phylloxera that devastated vines across Europe in the late 19th century. The same conditions enable low intervention in the vineyard and Paolo only uses small amounts of copper and sulphur. The cultivation of vineyards, which are located between 700 and 800 meters, is entrusted to experienced people in the area. The land in this area is magical. The volcanic ash soil with traces of sand is rich in minerals, which gives the grapes aromatic finesse and silky, velvety tannins.

This wine is produced from a blend of Carricante, Catarratto, Inzolia, Minella from some of the oldest vineyard areas of Mount Etna. After harvesting, the grapes are macerated for a short time with fermentation following at low temperatures and blocked malolactic fermentation. The wine then ages for eight months in second fill French Oak barriques.

Tasting Note:
Pale straw lemon in colour, this wine is fresh and delicately floral on the nose, with notes of citrus lemon, cedar, green herbs, flint, graphite and smoke. On the palate this wine is super lively and mineral. The full range of citrus lemons, peach, pineapple, apricot show prominently intermingled with notes of salty saline ocean sprays and mineral rocks and very well balanced alcohols. This wine dances across the palate, refreshing and leaving you wanting more. This is the real deal!

This is a Dry, Medium bodied wine with High acidity and No tannin. It is Medium+ in it's intensity with Medium alcohol and a Long finish.
