Owned by the Antinori family, the estate is located near Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast some 100km from Florence. The estate consists of 300 hectares of vineyards planted to Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot. The first wine from the estate was released in 1990 and today the Tenuta Guado al Tosso produces a range of wines from crisp and lively Vermentino and Rosato through to more robust reds of great quality and character including a blend of the Bordeaux varieties called Guado al Tasso Bolgheri DOC Superiore and the Matarocchio, a 100% Cabernet Franc labelled under the Maremma Toscana IGT designation.

First created in 2002, Il Bruciato is a red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, with the odd dash of Petit Verdot thrown in, but in the years that followed, the composition has been modified and a series of vineyard plots have been identified and now used exclusively for this second wine.

Tasting Note:
Il Bruciato has an deep ruby red colour. The nose is intense and enticing with notes of currants, blackberries, delicate hints of vanilla, clove and sweet spices. There is decent harmony on the palate with well integrated alcohol, clean persistence and easy drinkability, key for a second wine. The palate is well structured, but the alcohol does creep up on you, before finishing dry with soft tannin. Enjoy now or in a few years time, and will be made more user friendly with food..
