Freemark Abbey’s history begins in 1886 when Josephine Tychson, the first female vintner in California, built the original redwood cellar on which the estate sits. The winery is best known for crafting classically structured Cabernet Sauvignon from pedigreed sites, including the iconic Bosché and Sycamore vineyards. Freemark Abbey competed in “The Judgement of Paris” blind tasting in 1976 and was the only winery with both a red and a white wine represented.

Tasting Note: (from the winemaker)
2018 was a lovely vintage that helped us craft a very classically styled Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose opens with aromas of pomegranate, black cherry, cigar box and baking spices. The palate is lively and complex with flavours of wild blueberry, forest fruits, cocoa powder, espresso, and leather. The tannins are well integrated and supple making it lovely to enjoy now but it also has the ability to age for decades in the cellar.

This is a Dry, Full bodied wine with Medium+ acidity and High tannin. It is Medium+ in it's intensity with High alcohol and a Long finish.
