Keermont aims to create a range of wines that reflect the beautiful places from which they are grown, and in particular reflect the years vintage conditions. The wines are generally made as naturally as possible with very little irrigation in the vineyards and minimal intervention in the winery. The estate has been owned by the Wraith family since 2003 although 2005 saw the start of a major vineyard-planting program on land that had been left fallow for a number of years. 17ha were planted over a four year period to add to an existing 8ha of older vineyards already in the ground, which then meant Keermonts' official maiden vintage only came in 2007.

The farm itself is situated high up in the picturesque Blaauwklippen Valley, otherwise known as Paradyskloof (Paradise Valley). Due to the steepness of the terrain, the altitude climbs 200m within the 1.7km length of the farm and the vineyards are planted between 250m and 400m above sea level. This means that the vines planted over these wonderful, but wildly different terrains, produce wines with wonderful complexity and a wide range of flavour characteristics. The proximity to both False Bay and the Indian Ocean also aids to moderate the climate in the vineyards, aiding to maintain freshness and vibrancy in the wines.

Tasting Note: (From the winery)
Terrasse is our barrel fermented white blend which derives its name from the terraced vineyards leading up the mountains on the estate. We have six different white wine varieties planted on these terraces and every year we make up a unique blend depending on what the year gives us. The base is Chenin Blanc from three distinctive vineyards – Riverside block planted in 1971, the dryland bush vine Bobbejaan Wingerd (Baboon Vineyard), and the trellised Low Road vineyard. The other varieties add complexity and create a more complete wine. Chardonnay gives weight on the palate, Sauvignon Blanc brings fresh acidity, and the drops of Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier give this vintage a slight spicy, aromatic lift.

The Terrasse 2021 has a light green gold colour. The nose is inviting with notes of vanilla, nuts, citrus blossom, and rye. The palate is soft and effortless on entry, but soon opens up with lovely fresh acidity and an array of flavours: ripe apricot, peach and quince flavours complimented by richer more spicy savoury fruit. This follows into a lingering sweet-sour aftertaste with a light phenolic grip. A thin line of salty acidity and gentle leesy mouthfeel give the wine a lingering succulent finish. Drink 2022-2034.

This is a Dry, Full bodied wine with Medium acidity and No tannin. It is Pronounced in it's intensity with High alcohol and a Long finish.
