Located about 250km north of Cape town on the west coast of South Africa, Cederberg Private Cellar is a lone producer nestled inside the ward of Cederberg in the Western Cape. It's unique in that it doesn't fit inside any other region or district, and Cederberg Estate is the sole occupier of this ward. Historically others have tried, (and failed) to make wine here but as viticultural work in this hostile and arid region is nigh on impossible, only the Nieuwoudt family have stayed the course. They are also lucky to have the distinction of being the highest altitude vineyard in the Western Cape, enjoying this rare high altitude terroir to produce fine and well poised cool-climate wines.
This is a full bodied, multi layered and surprisingly complex South African Shiraz filled with intense red and black fruits such as bramble, mulberry, plums, cherries and blackberry. They've use oak quite well here with a well-balanced with a elegant use showing hints of sweet spice and vanilla on top of dark chocolate, mocha, cedar, violet aromatics and toasted nuts. The palate and finishes long and smooth with supple tannins. A well-crafted Shiraz that allows you to cellar the wine for a few years developing into a sensational wine.
This is a Dry, Full bodied wine with High acidity and Medium+ tannin. It is Medium+ in it's intensity with High alcohol and a Medium finish.
