The domaine of Marc Brédif is one of the most well known names in the Loire Valley, and around the world. Established in 1893 under the name of Château les Roches it wasn't until 1919 when Marc Brédif took over from his uncle, that the name was changed, and to this day they are widely recognised for the longevity and quality of their Vouvray.
Bredif was also a pioneer in the world of winemakers, creating sparkling Vouvray at the start of the 20th century. Their Chenin Blanc remains a benchmark for the region: delicious and nervy, it evolves into an infinitely complex wine with age taking on aged characters of dried honey and lanolin. It is still very possible to find some wines dating back to 1874 in their deep underground cellars carved into the porous Tuffeau limestone of the region.
A beautiful pale yellow lemon colour. There's complex notes of white flowers, quince, apples, ripe pear, peach, lanolin, and bright citrus lemon and grapefruit. Even though it finishes dry there is a slight lick of sweetness here (7g/l) but well woven into the wine and just enough to offset the high bracing acidity. There is a gentle vivacity to this wine that caresses the palate and doesn't leave it out of balance. Complex, well made and well balanced, this is a pretty good wine!
This is a Off-Dry, Medium bodied wine with High acidity and No tannin. It is Medium in it's intensity with Medium alcohol and a Medium finish.
